You'll note that it's a man on a square wheeled bike riding on a specially made track. The interesting thing is that the FP Gal's father had a hand in making this particular vehicle. The rider in the picture is one of his colleagues. This picture was taken a short walk from his office.
We quickly rewound the TV and took some pictures. Her dad was tickled pink to see his handiwork on national TV. And to think that we wouldn't have seen it if I hadn't insisted that football should be part of our Thanksgiving tradition.

Oh God Bless Football for all its peripheral benefits! We should all bow down before the great gods of football. Though, it is cool that your FIL's invention (?) was shown during the game. That IS cool. Football...well. You know how I feel about football.
I guess you feel that the small downsides are worth it because of the joy it brings. That's kind of how I feel too.
He didn't exactly invent it, he improved upon it. The guy on the bike is a theoretical mathematician. (Dad, feel free to correct me if I am wrong) He had the thing built before dad started working at Macalester. It never quite worked right, The wheels kind of fell into the valleys making for the bumpy ride you'd expect from a square wheeled bicycle, er, tricycle. Anyway, dad remeasured and rebuilt the cycle so now you get a nice easy ride...for about 20 feet.
