Serenity - 2005

A coworker has raved about this movie for months and she loaned it to us over the weekend. It's simply the best sci-fi movie that I've seen in years. It involves a group of bandits in a lone starship who are being chased all over the galaxy by the central government (the Alliance or something). The storyline is interesting, but not anything worldshaking. But the cuts from scene to scene are very good. The situations and their depictions are quite good. And what makes the movie is the dialouge. It's fresh and witty and sharp. (Seriously, someone should send this to George Lucas. Is it too late to remake Star Wars Episodes I, II and III?) A very good movie.

Is that the Joss Whedon film based on his short-lived tv series Firefly? Joss Whedon - of course, of Buffy fame.

It is indeed. And if you liked the dialouge in Buffy, you should run right out and get this movie.
