Morning Update

I'm sure Felix slept at some point last night, though I'm not sure when that was. He was in our bed and thrashing around when I came down from work at 130a. I think that the FP Gal moved him back to his crib so he could simply cry it out at some time, though I don't know when that was. I know he wasn't crying anymore at 630a.
Relia woke on schedule and since then I've:
  • Helped her get dressed. Had to be a dress and she wanted short sleeves so a shirt underneath was key. Still looking for the tights that will go under it.
  • Got Felix (pardon me, Dragonfire) some milk. He woke up while Relia was dressing and is clearly very tired.
  • Got Relia her breakfast.
  • Got myself dressed.
  • Pushed the FP Gal's car out of the snow so she could go to work.
Now I have to get everyone ready for the drive to preschool, which will also mean pushing another car out (please Rav-4, give me power!). Then it will be the drop-off dance where I have get DF out of his car seat, take them in and put him back in. Next will be home and breakfast for me.
There ought to be lots of naps today . . .

We have *very* very similar lives, Peder. Throw in there a constant morning-getting-dressed battle for me with Dahlia. I'm waiting for THAT phase to pass!

I giggle every time I read about Dragonfire. It reminds me of Dragon Slayer from Survivor.

2024 Olympics?

Next week the US Olympic Committee will decide if they'll bid on the 2024 Olympics (I'm betting they will) and may decide on which city they'll put forth to host.  There are four cities on the host list: Boston Los Angeles San Francisco Washington DC I've long believed that if the US bids on 2024, they will win.  The US hasn't hosted an Olympics since Salt Lake City in 2002 and no summer games since Atlanta in 1996.  Given the importance that the US has, particularly in funding, a 28 year gap is a huge one. So who gets the nod?  I have absolutely no insider knowledge but I'd like to make some guesses.  Pure speculation to follow. San Francisco is an interesting choice.  The Bay Area is certainly beautiful.  I'm guessing (I haven't checked into it) that there are enough venues in NoCal to satisfy the sporting requirements.  Between the professional teams (six?) and the number of big time colleges, there must be.  Throw in the big mo...

Box Elder Bugs

Yesterday morning's breakfast started badly. I'd split my bagel in half and was ready to toast it when I noticed a BOX ELDER BUG sitting on the toaster. The FP Gal tried to help remove him but it looked like he went into one of the slots. Not cool. She then shook out the toaster over the garbarge while I helpfully supervised from the other side of the kitchen. After that we couldn't see it in the toaster. So...we did a test run to smoke it out. Nothing. After careful inspection I finally toasted my bagel. Carefully checked it for embedded insect. Found it clean and ate it. Whew! This morning I sliced my bagel. And found another Box Elder bug on the toaster. The FP Gal was still asleep so I had to take care of it myself. Kleenex over mouth, eyes barely open and a quick paper towel latter it was gone. Seriously, if I find another one tomorrow we have to sell the house.

Airport Code Game

As you doubtlessly know, airports are known by a unique three letter code. Traditional initials also have three letters. I propose a game. Go here , to an airport code website and enter your initials. Then come back and leave a comment regarding which city you are connected to. The person with the largest city wins! I'll start (and create examples). PGD (me) - Punta Gorda, FL (per Wikipedia the population is 16,762) ARD (Relia) - Alor Island, Indonesia (Wikipedia puts the population at 168,000) FPG (FP Gal) - no known airport (Wikipedia thinks that lots of people don't live at airports but for the purpose of this game she gets a score of 0) So go ahead and give it a try. Leave your answers in the comments. Wikipedia look up available upon request. I honestly have no idea who will win this but I'm curious.
