Ok, There Was My Thunderstorm

Yep, a big one rolled through here earlier. Sheets of rain, a good push of wind and some nice rumbly thunder. And no power. For almost three hours. It was kind of like life out on the prairie. The FP Gal and I played some cards by candlelight.

You know what? I'm glad we have better technology now.

I heard Powder Horn Park lost some trees and there was deep flooding on I-35 and 42nd Street. Glad you got your wish!

I am not jealous of the storm, but I do like the idea of playing cards by candlelight.

Relia was read to sleep with the aid of a flashlight. Which was a huge novelty for her.

Night Lights

Here are ten strange night lights . The FP Gal has one of the series from number 10. My favorite is number three. The fifth one is the scariest by a wide margin. Speaking of night lights, we got one of these this weekend (though the price was better). We've put it on a timer and told Relia that she has to stay in her room until the light turns off at 530a. The first couple of nights have not been exactly smooth but we think we can see some progress. This morning she spent a very rough time from 5a until it finally clicked off. Lots of yelling, crying and a costume change (seriously). Then the time expired and she wall smiles. It was something of an achievement. On a side note, she's developed a funny habit when the yelling doesn't work. She starts by calling out 'mommy' or 'daddy'. If that doesn't work, she goes to our first and last names. The ugliest state

The FP Gal and I are starting to plan us a little road trip. Well, not sure how little it'll end up being. We're both hoping to add a state or two to our personal travel history. Anyway, it made me think of a curious discussion item I ran across a few years back. What's the ugliest state you've been to? Mine is a two way tie between Kansas and North Dakota. Scenes from a MOA

Now that the weather has turned bitterly cold and deep snow has limited our options we've been spending a lot of our free mornings at the Mall of America. It's close to us, there is ample parking (if you get there early) and there is mucho space for three year olds to run around. Some random notes: We usually park in the Arizona lot, which is denoted with a cactus. Relia desperately wants us to park one floor down on the 'pineapple lot' but the entrance there isn't very stroller friendly. Someday, I tell her, she will be the driver and then she can park on the pineapple lot. We use the double stroller and recently we've moved Felix into the front seat. He loves it! He can see stuff and smile at everyone. Good stuff. Presented without further comment: Relia refers to Victoria's Secret as 'the boob store'. On most trips we go and visit the fish. Carrie recently wrote about her trip to Underwater Adventures and she does a pretty good sales job....
