- The trip opens with a flight to Portland Oregon and see their world famous rose garden.
- Drive the Columbia river gorge and see Mt Hood. Gorgeous!
- Continue to Bend and see the wonderfully textured art at Lubbesmeyer studio.
- Just down the road is Crater Lake, formed from the remains of the largest volcanic explosion since the ice age.
- Next? Cave Junction, Oregon where you can stay in a treehouse hotel. While there you can visit Oregon Caves National Monument and (my favorite) Great Cats World Park.
- The next leg takes you up the magical Oregon coast to the well filmed town of Astoria.

Vacation suggestion
Hans and Rachel have asked for help with a vacation suggestion. I think they're leaning towards something else but I stumbled across some nice stuff that would make a nice trip.

Heck to the yeah! WWith everyone gone at work, it makes me long for some vacay time.
They could stay at Mt Hood where the outside shots of "The Shinning" were filmed, and they would be very close to Mt St Helens.
Thank you very much for the interesting and beautiful suggestion. I think that right at this moment, we're leaning towards Bermuda...we decided that we don't want a run-run vacation, we want a vacation that involves a lot of uninterrupted lying-about, reading and drinking fruity drinks while palm trees wave overhead. And maybe a little shopping.
MamaD4, I could stand one of those vacations too.
That sounds nice to me, too. I think the FP Gal and I have been daydreaming about our wonderful week in Mexico for the last few months. Just lying by the pool and ordering room service. Taking a short walk each night to find a different restaurant. Very decadent.
