Films set in Minnesota

The list on wikipedia is here.

I'm going with a top five (in particular order) of:

Juno
Grumpy Old Men
Drop Dead Gorgeous
Miracle
Fargo

Anyone want to challenge that?

What, no "Joe Somebody"? OK, I admit it's not the best movie, but it has some nice views of St. Paul. I bought a copy just for that. Well, and Hans likes Julie whats-her-face. From "Ed".

Rachel, I thought Joe Somebody was a decent movie. Must have been an oversight.

Not a "challenge", per se, but the only problem I have is that "Fargo" always makes people think that city is in Minnesota.

Also missing is Dr Zhivago, parts of which were shot in our downstairs bathroom.

I loved your bathroom by the way.

Hmmm, I think missing from you list are NEWTON'S DISEASE, AND ON THE 7TH DAY, GOD ROCKED and WHITE MAN'S WORLD (check them out here: www.4trackfilms.com) but you know other than that...yeah, sure your list is good.

Oh and IRON WILL - but I was in that so I'm biased...I haven't seen

I can tell you what the worst one on this list is - "Feeling Minnesota". By far, the worst, and I've seen most of them. It was achingly awful.

One that isn't on this list, but that they were filming on many nights when I was working at Pizza Hut is "Overnight Delivery" which, although it went straight to video wasn't that bad. It has Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd in it along with Christine Taylor and Sarah Silverman.

Oh, and I watched part of the filming for "Jingle All the Way", too. "Untamed Heart" was filmed in our old neighborhood.

How come "Mall Rats" and "Beautiful Girls" aren't listed?

Also, for the record, Joe Somebody would be on my list as well.

Oh I really like Beautiful Girls, WAY better than I liked Drop Dead Gorgeous (ugh).

Beautiful Girls was filmed in MN, but set in NY. I had a post about a year ago on Brians blog with all the films made in MN.

Ok, eleven comments (now twelve). I think this makes this the second most commented post only being beaten by Aurelia's birth.

"Jingle All the Way" was filmed partly in front of one of my dear friend's home. She said it was summertime, and they sprayed her front lawn with fake snow.

Did you list a "Prairie Home Companion" of which I played a very small part?
